Divine Feminine
What is the Divine Feminine?
The divine feminine is beautifully embodied in the doctrine of Heavenly Mother, a vital yet often veiled presence in sacred teachings. Scriptures subtly reference Her influence, such as in Proverbs 8, where Wisdom—personified as a female figure—is described as being present “from the beginning,” working alongside God in the Creation. Scholars like Margaret Barker have explored how early Israelite worship included reverence for the divine feminine, often symbolized as the Tree of Life or the presence of the Holy Spirit. Authors and presenters, such as Dave Butler have further illuminated Her role, emphasizing that Heavenly Mother’s influence is woven throughout temple symbolism, covenantal language, and the nurturing power of grace. Understanding Her presence invites us to see the fullness of God’s nature—a divine partnership guiding us toward eternal life.

We are Children of God
The Prophet Joseph Smith taught, “If men do not comprehend the character of God, they do not comprehend themselves” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith). As children of loving Heavenly Parents, understanding Their divine nature is key to understanding our own. We believe that just as our relationship with Heavenly Father is essential, so too is our connection with our Heavenly Mother—a relationship that nurtures our spiritual growth and helps us realize our eternal potential.
On our mortal journey, we are invited to take the Holy Ghost as our guide, trusting in His power to “teach [us] the truthfulness of all things” (Moroni 10:5). As we set aside fear of deception and seek to know our Heavenly Parents, we come to know ourselves more deeply. This path leads to profound repentance, healing, and transformation—empowering us to love ourselves and others more fully, and to become more like the Savior.
Doctrine of Gender
In ‘Consider Yourself as Eve’, Meghan explores the doctrine of gender through the lens of divine design, emphasizing the distinct yet complementary roles of masculine and feminine energy. Masculine energy is often characterized by qualities such as providing, protecting, and initiating, while feminine energy embodies nurturing, receiving, and cultivating life. Both energies are divine and necessary, working in harmony to reflect the nature of our Heavenly Parents. Aligning with our physical bodies involves embracing these God-given energies in their fullness—honoring the strengths of our divinely appointed roles while also developing attributes from both energies to become whole. As we strive to embody these qualities, we draw closer to our Heavenly Parents, better understanding our eternal identity and purpose.

Aligning to Femininity
For women especially, the journey of spiritual growth often requires a conscious effort to realign with our spirits and embrace our divine feminine nature. The world we live in tends to prioritize masculine energy—marked by productivity, achievement, and constant forward motion. This fast-paced, goal-driven mindset encourages us to hustle, climb the ladder of success, and believe that we must ‘do it all’ to prove our worth. While ambition and achievement are valuable, overemphasizing these traits can leave women feeling disconnected from their inherent feminine strengths.
To find balance and spiritual wholeness, women are invited to reconnect with their divine feminine qualities—those that foster relationships, build meaningful connections, and create spaces for rest, reflection, and nurturing. Embracing these attributes doesn’t mean abandoning ambition; rather, it invites us to prioritize the deeper rhythms of creation, compassion, and communion that are central to the feminine pattern. By making time for stillness, creativity, and the cultivation of loving relationships, women align more fully with the divine role they were designed to fulfill.
At Latter-Day Disciples, we provide resources and guidance to help you connect with your true divine self. Through insights drawn from temple symbolism and scripture, we offer tools to help women embrace this feminine pattern—a path of spiritual ascent that leads to deeper connection with Heavenly Mother, greater inner peace, and a richer understanding of your eternal purpose.
Role of Women
We aim to help women recognize their divine worth and confidently step into their roles as leaders, mothers, and queens. By illuminating the distinct yet complementary patterns of masculine and feminine spiritual ascent, we aim to offer greater clarity on how these paths shape our individual journeys. Understanding these differences can bring deeper peace, renewed hope, and a stronger connection to the Savior and our Heavenly Parents.
Women play a vital and irreplaceable role in God’s plan. We are honored to be part of a growing grassroots awakening—a movement of faithful daughters of God who are rising to become the righteous Queens of Zion. These women are embracing their divine potential, grounded in the love and power of Jesus Christ, and stepping forward to build His kingdom with strength, grace, and unwavering faith.

Aligning with Our Spouses
As we seek to align with our true divine selves, we naturally find ourselves drawn to greater harmony with our spouse. Much like the ancient yin-yang symbol, each partner is invited to embrace both their masculine and feminine qualities, creating a beautiful balance that strengthens and completes the other.
In the sacred covenant of sealing, we are invited to become more like our Heavenly Parents—sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise. This journey is one of growth and transformation, as we strive to repent, release past wounds, and break free from the patterns of generational iniquity.
Together, as we lean on the Savior’s grace, we can develop greater charity, deeper forgiveness, and a stronger unity. Over time, this sacred partnership becomes a powerful reflection of God’s pure love—a love that heals, uplifts, and ultimately prepares us to stand in His presence.
The Priestesshood
We also seek to bring greater clarity to the sacred pattern of the Priestesshood—a divine path that mirrors Isaiah’s Ladder of Ascension. In her book, Consider Yourself as Eve, Meghan outlines this pattern, revealing how it differs from the masculine journey of the Priesthood. While men ascend through the offices of the Priesthood, gaining responsibility and authority as they progress, the feminine pattern is broader and more encompassing—woven throughout life like the weft of a tapestry. Women are initiated into the Priestesshood from birth, fulfilling their divine roles as daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers—each role carrying sacred purpose and power.
Throughout the scriptures, we see women powerfully embodying these roles, serving as nurturers, leaders, and covenant-keepers. Our resources, including The Tower in the Garden blog and the Hidden Wisdom podcast, offer deeper insights into these divine roles and how women can embrace and express them in their personal lives. By understanding the beauty and strength of the Priestesshood, women can find greater purpose, peace, and power in their spiritual journey.
